South Boston native and G Street resident Bill Linehan’s motivation to become the next District 2 Boston City Councilor is rooted in his lifelong dedication to improving his community. Service, loyalty and hard work are values that run deep within Bill and the entire Linehan family, including his wife Judy and their four children and two grandchildren. Bill wants to bring the same passion and commitment he has for his family to all of the district’s residents because he believes that the business of politics is all about conducting the people’s business. Above all else, Bill Linehan possesses the experience, leadership and determination to best serve the residents and neighborhoods of District 2.

The oldest of eight children, Bill has continuously demonstrated his commitment to his community. Whether it’s coaching girls’ soccer, leading important community organizations, hosting benefits or lending his talents for important causes, Bill Linehan has worked with others to build a brighter future for the City of Boston. Bill has also been active in politics since his teenage years, and completely understands and believes that public service is a tremendous privilege and responsibility.

For nearly twenty years, Bill Linehan has been working to improve the quality of life for Boston residents. As the Special Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer of the City of Boston for the past six years, Bill has worked to deliver city services at the highest standard to meet the needs of residents. Initiatives such as CityLinks, B-SMART and Charlestown Connects have been developed and directed by Bill to reduce crime and increase opportunities in neighborhoods.

As the Director of Operations for the City of Boston’s Parks Department, Bill was responsible for providing residents with quality green spaces and recreation programs throughout the city. At the Parks Department, Bill also directed the following divisions: Constituent Services, Permitting, Boston Park Rangers, Sports and Recreation, Arts and Entertainment.

Through these experiences, Bill has gained a wealth of knowledge in service delivery, fiscal issues, capital construction and public administration. These jobs have also required Bill to work with city councilors, allowing him to gain a keen awareness of Boston’s legislative body. Now, Bill wants to put these valuable skills to work to benefit the residents of District 2.

Before serving the City of Boston, Bill Linehan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, where he held a key position in exterior facilities. It was during this time that Bill first ran for the District 2 City Council seat, where he was a finalist, but was not elected.

Bill Linehan understands that residents want safe and clean neighborhoods, quality schools and investments that benefit neighborhoods while retaining their distinct character. As your next Boston District 2 City Councilor, Bill will work tirelessly and collaboratively to get the job done. Thank you for your support.
